Robin on birch, oils on canvas board 10″ x 8″ (254mm x 203mm).
A common sight in many British gardens during the winter, robins are synonymous with that time of year. With their striking orangey red breast, they really stand out from their more drab surroundings. Hardy little birds, they are territorial over this time too, only allowing another to enter their patch one spring comes around. This one has found a nice perch to survey her patch during a snow fall, optimistic in finding something nice to eat.
