Fox Eye study, various media.

I’ve been very busy the past few weeks, so much so that I’ve been finding it very difficult to get onto the drawing board to work on anything substantial. However, I used this to my advantage to do a small project that I had been thinking about for a while: how would the same subject look in different media? A simple enough project, but one that can be difficult to complete due to having to do the same subject multiple times. I didn’t mind doing that though, as I was interested in seeing the results. I started with graphite which I’m most familiar with, then charcoal pencil that I’m less familiar with, ink that I’ve used before but infrequently and then coloured media. I’ve not used coloured pencils too much before and not really had any success with them, but this time around I’m quite happy with the results. Far from perfect, but I learnt a lot from the grey tone coloured pencils and the colour version ones: to the extent that I feel confident enough to have a go at attempting a full piece with them. The last one in pastels was just out of curiosity more than anything: pastel on that paper was never going to work too well, but I wanted to see the result all the same. An interesting little project, and I’ll have to see what wet media will do instead next at some point.
