I’ve been hard at work recently on a project that for the moment I’m wanting to keep under wraps, but needless to say that I’m still working hard! As a nice little distraction however, I’ve been commissioned to draw a nice butterfly: so what better time to change the scenery than now to break out the pastels again? It has been a while since I’ve used them, so it’ll be useful to get to grips with them again. So far, this one has just been roughly mapped out, with the background very rough and un-blended, and the subject itself just a series of single lines and rough areas at the moment. But this is where I want it to be for now, as this provides a good basis from which to work it up towards the final piece. I’ll need to tweak a few areas here and then, knock it into a better shape where required, but that’s all part of the fun I find.
